Working for medici.tv means learning something new about classical music every day… While reading recently with a lovely soundtrack, I was struck by the particular beauty of a voice I hadn't heard before—and found out it was that of a contralto, the lowest female register. I went searching for examples of this rare range and came across a marvelous Baroque concert with Nathalie Stutzmann—who not only conducts the proceedings, but also performs Handel duets with soprano Emőke Baráth! It's the most captivating blend of timbre and tone: their voices complement each other beautifully, each bringing out an extraordinary sound in the other, all set against a backdrop of lively harpischord and wind instruments—an utter delight.
