Staff Pick of the Week

By Sophie, Senior Social Media Manager at medici.tv

As a great admirer of the films of Studio Ghibli, I was enraptured by Isao Takahata's stunning vision of The Tale of Princess Kaguya. Kaguya's story represents the fleeting season on Earth granted to all things and creatures: despite the strong bonds she forms with those who welcome her—and those who covet her ethereal beauty—the princess is destined to return to the kingdom of the moon… I was thrilled to learn that this fable had been adapted for the ballet stage, and the production is guaranteed to delight fans of the film as well as ballet lovers unfamiliar with the story. Be swept away by one of the oldest surviving Japanese tales in this magnificent staging by the Tokyo Ballet!
